Synpol, the logo of the company derived its name from Synthetics & Polymer Industries, then a partnership company, established in 1964, with a view to develop and market import substitute products in the Indian market. The partnership company was started by the technocrats Mr. Vinod J. Kothari, now a Chairman & Managing Director and Mr. P. L. Joshi, Managing Director, both post-graduate degree holders of Paints and Coatings from Department of Chemical Technology, University of Bombay.
